Life drawing session

I have been organizing a life drawing session in downtown Seattle since 1999. I hire models for a Saturday morning and Monday night session. I pay $60 for 3 hours work. The Saturday morning session goes from 9:30am - 12:30pm and requires nude figure modeling. The Monday night session goes from 6:30pm - 9:30pm and is generally 1 single pose and clothed or costumed. Decorating Your Home with Eccentric Flair

Home decorating is a favorite pastime of many homeowners and renters, particularly because it allows them to express themselves in their own space. If you live somewhere every day, day in and day out, you don’t want to walk between walls that are blank, boring, and deadening. While most people will probably be satisfied with a splash of paint on the walls and perhaps a few nice touches placed around the rooms (such as candlesticks, paintings, etc.), many artists like to play around with more creative ideas. If you want to throw caution to the wind and really envelop yourself in the world of eccentric home decoration, take some of these unusual decorative suggestions into mind before grabbing your work clothes to start on everything.

Color Doesn’t Only Come From Paint

If you think having red walls makes your house colorful in one swipe of the brush, think again. Color can be three dimensional and engaging, and doesn’t have to be locked up in a two dimensional space. A great way to bring a variety of color indoors is to use flowers. Because flowers often die and need to be replaced (making permanent decoration with them a nightmare), you can try using some silk flowers that are just as vibrant and lovely (and they don’t need to be watered, best of all). You can also add some color through furniture or accents, such as putting a bold purple headrest or a bright blue end table in one of your home’s rooms.

Don’t Buy All New Things

New things have a special appeal and many people are tempted to fill their homes with only new objects when redecorating (or even decorating for the first time). Older objects, however, tend to have more character, charm, and beauty in them. The worn look speaks to human nostalgia, and even though I’m not advocating the use of stuff that falling apart, using something with a few bent edges isn’t the worse thing in the world. In fact, using older furniture and other pieces can bring a room to life, creating a story that couldn’t possibly be told through stuff that just came off the rack at the department store.

Play Up What You Love

At the end of the day, your home is your home. It’s not your neighbor’s, it’s not your mother’s, and it’s not your best friend’s. It’s yours, and that means your home should reflect you and your tastes. Don’t feel you need to copy the latest technique from HGTV or put in new lighting just because that’s the current fad. If you love something, use it. Emphasize it if you like. With a keen eye and some creative maneuvering, just about anything can be tastefully placed in a home.
